There are outstanding professional career opportunities in the mechanical and plumbing construction industry. Mechanical and plumbing contracting is part of the construction industry that provide us with:
Professional trades people who work for Mechanical Contractors Association of Georgia (MCAG) and Mechanical Industries Council (MIC) companies are members of United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local #72. There are several ways to enter our industry as a professional trades person:
The MCAG and United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local #72 jointly operate the Mechanical Trades Institute (MIT), which is located in Atlanta’s Fulton Industrial Park at 5675 Tulane Dr., S.W. Atlanta, GA 30336. To learn more about this outstanding facility, and how you may be eligible to receive a scholarship and earn excellent wages while you learn either the pipe fitting, plumbing or service trade, please visit there web site by clicking here. The Mechanical Trades Institute also has training facilities in Rome, Macon and Albany, Georgia. Apprenticeship classes, of which there are now two a year, provide a five-year curriculum in the plumbing, pipe fitting or service trades. The total number of apprentices exceeds 300 a year. In mid-2000, a modern addition to the institute was dedicated with a large delegation of city, state and federal officials in attendance. Apprenticeship is the combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly professional skilled occupation. Apprentices of today are the supervisors, superintendents, and contractors of tomorrow. Ambitious young persons needn't stop advancing once they become a professional skilled tradesman. Supervisory positions become available as they improve their skills, knowledge, and ability to direct and guide people in their trade. Advancement, of course, depends on the individual. If you are interested in applying for a management or professional support staff position, please contact MCAG by phone, or by e-mail by clicking here. You may also feel free to contact any MCAG and MIC company listed in the member directory sections of this web site. |
